Managing Director
Carina's professional journey is marked by her passion for languages and dedication to education. From the outset, her profound interest in languages guided her towards a degree in Translation and Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the prestigious National University of Córdoba in Argentina. Concurrently, Carina demonstrated her versatility by engaging in diverse professional roles, balancing freelance translation work with her commitment as an English and English Literature teacher and as an assistant lecturer at the National University of Córdoba.
In 2002, Carina relocated to the UK, where she began working full-time as a freelance translator while pursuing her MA in Applied Linguistics & TESOL at the University of Leicester. Her academic pursuits culminated in a dissertation on Bilingualism. She subsequently earned an MA (Merit) in Management from the London Metropolitan University, with her dissertation focusing on Total Quality Management in Secondary Schools.
Carina is a highly regarded figure in the language services industry, with 30 years of experience in translation and foreign language teaching. She founded My Language Hub, a language service company, with a mission to eliminate language barriers and foster global connections.
Carina's notable credentials include Certified Localisation Professional, Fellow Member of The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), Chartered Linguist specializing in Translation and Education, and former CIOL Council member. Her commitment to the field is further demonstrated by her service as a Council member and Honourable Treasurer at the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), of which My Language Hub is an Accredited Member.
Carina has become a member of the British Standards Institution (BSI) TS/1 Committee on Language and Terminology, which is analogous to the ISO/TC 37 Committee responsible for standardising descriptions, resources, technologies and services related to terminology, translation, interpreting and other language-based activities in the multilingual information society. Carina has also been accredited as a Lead Auditor of ISO 9001:2015 in Quality Management.
Carina's proficiency in language assessment has led her to author the textbook and the workbook for the Cambridge IGCSE™ exam in First Language Spanish. Fuelled by her dual passion for translation and language teaching, she has crafted two comprehensive training programs for linguists and language professionals seeking to transition into the translation and interpreting profession and gain a recognized qualification: Foundations of Translation and Mastery of Translation.
Carina is a devoted proponent of the pivotal role that foreign language skills play in today's global market. She is a vocal advocate for the early introduction of these skills in schools, emphasizing the importance of fostering enjoyment in the learning process. Her dedication to this cause is evident in her work, which has been instrumental in breaking down language barriers and empowering individuals to thrive in today's interconnected global landscape.
