Empowering Women:

How MLH Champions the Women’s Empowerment Principles

International Women’s Day is more than just a celebration—it’s a call to action. At My Language Hub (MLH), we proudly stand by the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) because we believe that empowering women in the workplace, marketplace, and community is essential to building a stronger, more united society.

Our Deep-Rooted Belief in Equality

As a woman-owned organisation, MLH is built on the core values of empowerment and equality. Our commitment to the WEPs is both personal and professional. The Women’s Empowerment Principles, which advocate for actionable change across corporate leadership, fair treatment at work, health and safety, education, and community engagement, serve as a roadmap for transforming our society. We recognize that true progress is made when everyone—regardless of gender—has the opportunity to succeed.

A CEO’s Journey: From Adversity to Advocacy

The heart and soul behind MLH is our CEO Carina Balbo, whose life story embodies the very essence of empowerment. Growing up in a small community in Argentina, she was surrounded by a culture where men were seen as the primary breadwinners and the head of the family, while women were expected to focus solely on home and children. Yet, even in those challenging circumstances, she never accepted that limiting narrative. “Household duties are 50-50,” she would say, challenging the status quo at every turn.

Her journey was not without hardship. Having endured two broken marriages and surviving domestic abuse, she knows all too well the importance of giving women a voice. These personal trials have only strengthened her resolve to champion the rights and empowerment of women everywhere. Today, her story inspires our mission at MLH, reinforcing the belief that every woman deserves to be heard, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Women are the living embodiment of nature’s creativity and nurturing spirit.
They build communities and families, and they’re often the center of these units.
So, it’s really important to empower women if we want to create a better, more balanced world.

Why Empowering Women Matters

In today’s world—where challenges such as restrictions on women’s rights to education and other fundamental freedoms continue to emerge—the need for empowerment has never been greater. By investing in the development and growth of women, we are not just creating opportunities for individuals; we are building a resilient, united society. When women are empowered, communities flourish, businesses grow stronger, and our collective future becomes brighter.

How MLH Lives the WEPs

MLH embraces the Women’s Empowerment Principles across every aspect of our operations:
